Pros Tip – Chipping

Sunday 10th March, 2013 4:50pm

When you get in and around the green do you struggle to get up and down? Do you always pull the pitching wedge or sand wedge out of the bag? Next time try using a different club, the short game can allow any level of player the opportunity to be creative. By using the different clubs in your bag you can produce a ball flight to match the shot required. For example if you have a lot of green to work with it can be best to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible and using a 7 or 6 iron will allow you to do this when a putter cannot be used. In tricky lies where there is fringe grass behind the ball you could even use a hybrid or fairway metal. Give it a try next time you play.
Do you know we also do short game lessons at Portsmouth Golf Centre, we have a dedicated short game area on the course and a putting green next to the first tee, there is a short game group lesson on Monday 22nd of April from 19.00-2030.
